About Us
Give Care. Give Rest. Give Hope.
Who Are We
Yemihret Dej Charity Centre (የምህረት ደጅ በጎ አድራጎት ማእከል) supports children with disabilities and the families who care for them—especially mothers, who often carry the full responsibility of caregiving with little social or economic support.
Many of the children we serve require continuous, hands-on care. This reality can limit a parent’s ability to work, rest, or meet their own basic needs, placing families at risk of isolation and poverty. We exist to change that.
Through our initiatives, we provide practical support, a sense of community, and a place where families are treated with dignity. From Monday to Thursday, children and their parents are transported from their homes to our centre in Addis Ababa, where they receive nutritious meals, a safe and welcoming environment, and time to rest, connect, and care for themselves. Together with fellow parents and dedicated volunteers, families find encouragement, shared understanding, and renewed strength.
We also provide direct financial assistance and essential supplies to help families meet everyday needs and reduce impossible choices between caregiving and earning an income. Our goal is simple: no parent should have to choose between their child’s safety and their family’s survival.
Our work is sustained by the generosity of Ethiopians at home and abroad who sponsor families, donate essentials, and stand alongside our community. We serve families guided by the belief that every person has inherent dignity and worth.
Inspired by our Christian faith and the call to care for those who are sick and vulnerable—“For I was sick and you visited me” (Matthew 25:36)—we strive to be a place of compassion, relief, and hope for all.

What We Do
What We Do
Respite Care: We provide safe, short-term care for children so parents and caregivers can rest, attend to personal needs, or work—protecting their health and well-being.
Parent Support Groups: We create spaces for parents to connect, share experiences, and support one another through encouragement, learning, and community.
Family & Sibling Support: We offer guidance and care for siblings and other family members to strengthen the whole family, not just the primary caregiver.
Information & Advocacy: We equip families with accessible information, practical tools, and a collective voice to help them navigate services and advocate for inclusive systems.
